PreCanSkate

PreCanSkate is an un-parented, readiness program for participants who have never skated before or who are not confident with their balance on the ice. Skaters will learn how to get up and stand on the ice with balance, move forward, move backwards and stop.  

Skaters require a CSA-approved hockey helmet with a cage.  

Our PreCanSkate sessions are instructed by Skate Canada Certified Professional Coaches and delivered in a group format.  All ice and coaching costs are included in the registration price.

CanSkate

CanSkate is a dynamic learn-to-skate program that focuses on fun, participation and basic skill development. Skaters will learn a series of balance, control and agility skills taught in six stages. CanSkate is for participants who can move forward unassisted and complete a full lap around the arena with relative speed. 

Skaters require a CSA-approved hockey helmet

Prerequisite(s): successful completion of PreCanSkate or equivalent.

Helmet Use Policy

Crowchild Skating Club requires all CanSkate participants (up to and including Stage 5) as well as all skaters in the CanPowerSkate program to wear a CSA approved hockey helmet while on the ice. All PreCanSkate participants must wear a CSA approved hockey helmet with a cage while on the ice. Skaters will not be allowed on the ice without the required helmet. Bicycle, multi-sport and snowboarding/skiing helmets are not acceptable.
